The Importance of Learning CPR

10/3/2015

CPR is Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. It is the preservation or restoration of life by the establishment and/or maintenance of airway, breathing and circulation and related emergency care. CPR restores a casualty as a result of respiratory failure (breathing stopped) and/or cardiac arrest (heart stopped) until professional medical help arrives. Among the list of possible causes of cardio-pulmonary arrest are drowning, electrocution, choking, heart attack, stroke and many others.

It is estimated that only about 10 percent of the Australian population know how to do CPR. In some other parts of the world, that estimate is 80%. Don’t rely on the ambulance to arrive for the paramedics to do CPR – it will probably be too late!

See me if you would like to do a CPR course. It does not have to be related to swimming. To encourage as many people as possible to do a course, the duration is now only two and a half hours and the cost only $40.

What better skill is there to have than to save another’s life?
