Then it was on to Konstanz with the rest of the expeditionary force coming from Norway and direct from Australia gathering at Zurich airport for the short train ride to this ancient city on the shores of Lake Constance. After a 2k acclimatisation swim in the lake and a good look around, today we are off to Schaffhausen and the Rhine Falls by boat. Tomorrow, we mount our cycling steeds to commence the 275km round-lake trip spread over four days. Stay tuned for more news and photos.

It began on Tuesday 16th and 17th August with a two day stopover in Helsinki where I swam in the pool used for the 1952 Olympics. That was a real hoot! Although, after 24 hours in a plane, each 50m length seem more like a kilometre.
