Otter Aquatics is a Brisbane-based aquatics education and training organisation providing learn-to-swim instruction (especially for adults) and more advanced-level stroke improvement, fitness training and open water swimming instruction and training. It also organises and leads non-competitive and varied swimming-based domestic and international holidays. A new addition to our offerings is our 'Swimming as Therapy' service for people experiencing a variety of medical and health issues.
Dr Mark Otter has been a pool and open water swimmer for many years. He is also an experienced educator and trainer and has extensive academic qualifications which supported his various previous careers as a naval officer, diplomat, university academic and a senior officer in international development and environment organisations.
Mark also holds the following competency-based qualifications relevant to his current role:
Otter Aquatics has appropriate levels of Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance.

- AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming to Adults
- AUSTSWIM Assessor (of trainee swimming instructors)
- Swimming Australia Coach (Teacher of Competitive Strokes)
- First Aid, Resuscitation/CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma qualifications
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Until recently, he was a Royal Lifesaving Society competency-based trainer and examiner in Bronze Medallion, Pool Lifeguard, First Aid, Resuscitation/CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma
- He was also a Surf Lifesaving Australia Silver Medallion holder (patrol captain qualification) and Surf Lifesaving Australia Trainer and Assessor
- He has a positive Notice for Child Related Employment (Blue Card).
